Note: This option replaces the previous default installation of install.exe install_nonexclusive.exe: install_nonexclusive.exe should be used by applications (such as Microsoft Data Protection Manager or Microsoft Removable Storage Manager) permitting multiple open handles from a host to a drive to exist at the same time. Note: This option replaces the previous command line installation of install.exe -n To install the Windows 200x IBMTape Device Drivers: Double click on install_exclusive.exe or install_nonexclusive.exe to start the drivers installation or use the command line options as follows: install_exclusive [-c|-t] [-d] [-s] [-h] [-r] or install_nonexclusive [-c|-t] [-d] [-s] [-h] [-r] c = install only the changer drivers t = install only the tape drivers d = output debug information to debug.txt s = silent mode (suppress IBM driver pop-ups) r = disable the RSM service f = disable DPF h = print usage information You can also install the LTO device driver manually: 1) Unzip the appropriate x86 or x64 Zip file in a temporary folder. 2) Make sure your half high LTO4 tape drive is properly connected and powered on. 3) If intending to use with Windows RSM, execute the install_nonexclusive.exe from a command line. For example, c:\path >install_nonexclusive.exe where path is the temporary folder from step 1. 4) This will install the drivers for the tape drive and the tape enumerator. 5) Check the device manager and the yellow question mark will be gone. The tape drive will be listed as installed. 2.0 HBA Restrictions: 1) Windows/Emulex: No support for direct attachment to tape storage devices with the Emulex-based 8Gb host bus adapters. Link failures when direct connected will cause the host to lose communication with the tape storage device, and a host reboot will be needed to regain communication between the host bus adapter and the device. Windows/Emulex: When HBA topology setting is set to auto-topology in an N-port/F-port environment, the HBA may run out of B2B credits (due to link failures), and then will abend job due to a known issue during the link reset recovery procedure. To avoid this situation, it is recommended that the HBA topology setting is set to N-port/Fport. 2) Restriction for IBM Ultra 320 SCSI PCIe Controller (43W4324): Tape Storage attachment to this adapter card limited to blocksizes equal to or less than 64K. 3.0 Web Sites and Support Phone Numbers 3.1 Web sites IBM Support Web Site: http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/support/xseries/index.html IBM IntelliStation Web site: http://www-132.ibm.com/content/home/store_IBMPublicUSA/en_US/IntelliStation_workstations.html IBM xSeries Tape Files http://www-304.ibm.com/jct01004c/systems/support/supportsite.wss/docdisplay?lndocid=TAPE-FILES&brandind=5000019 3.2 Software service and support -------------------------------- Through IBM Support Line, you can get telephone assistance, for a fee, with usage, configuration, and software problems with xSeries servers, IntelliStation workstations, and appliances.
