Unzip file and cd to supported directory. VMware ESXi 4 2. Copy the files to the ESX server. 3. Follow Vmware's device driver installation instructions o esxupdate --bundle offline-bundle.zip update --nosigcheck --maintenancemode o Issue the following command (full path to the VIB must be specified): esxcli software vib install -v /tmp/{VIBFILE} VMware ESXi 5 2. Copy the VIB to the ESX server. The file can placed anywhere that is accessible to the ESX console shell, but for these instructions, we'll assume the location is in '/tmp'. 3. Issue the following command (full path to the VIB must be specified): esxcli software vib install -v /tmp/{VIBFILE} Note: Depending on the certificate used to sign the VIB, you may need to change the host acceptance level. To do this, use the following command: esxcli software acceptance set --level= Also, depending on the type of VIB being installed, you may have to put ESX into maintenance mode. This can be done through the VI Client, or by adding the '--maintenance-mode' option to the above esxcli command. Upgrade Installation -------------------- The upgrade process is similar to a new install, except the command that should be issued is the following: esxcli software vib upgrade -v {VIBFILE} VUM INSTALLATION The VMware Update Manager (VUM) is a plugin for the Virtual Center Server (vCenter Server). You can use the VUM UI to install a VIB by importing the associated offline bundle package (a ZIP file that contains the VIB and metadata). You can then create an add-on baseline and remediate the host(s) with this baseline. Please see the vCenter Server documentation for more details on VUM. 2.2 Troubleshooting tips ------------------------ - None 3.0 Configuration information ______________________________ For the latest High IOPS Modular Adapter configuration information, shipping limitations and requirement for IBM System x Servers, see the following URL: IBM High IOPS Modular Adapters configuration information and requirements http://www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=SERV-IOMA 4.0 Unattended Mode ____________________ None 5.0 Web Sites and Support Phone Number ______________________________________ o You can download new and updated files for IBM products from the IBM Support Web site: http://www.ibm.com/support/ o For the latest list of supported operating systems, see the IBM ServerProven - SCSI and RAID Controllers Web site: http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/xseries/controllers/matrix.html o With the original purchase of an IBM hardware product, you have access to extensive support coverage.
