For detailed changes for each device driver, see the Version.txt file in the sub-directory that contains the device driver. 3.0 Installation and Configuration ____________________________________ The executable file is self-extracting and can be executed under the Windows operating system. This file will install the windows device driver. 3.1 Package specific installation instruction This update is packaged as a self-extracting PackageForTheWeb (PFTW) executable file. To use this update your TEMP environment variable must be set to a path with read/write access. You must be logged in as an administrator. The command-line syntax for PackageForTheWeb executable device driver update package is: Package.exe [-s] [-a [-s] | [-x directory] | [-?] ] [-s] This command installs an update silently and does not notify you if your files need to be over written in the %temp% directory. [-a] This command passes all subsequent commands to the install package. [-s] This second -s command installs the update silently and unattended. [-x directory] This command extracts the update files to a directory named directory. The PackageForTheWeb executable extracts itself to subdirectory in the %TEMP% directory. Extracted directories will be relative to that location. Typically you must specify an absolute directory. [-?] This command displays information about the command line switches. The command line swithces -a and -x are unattended. Other command line options such as display help (-?) might require that you to hit any key to continue. If Windows packages are run without any command line options, a GUI is displayed. This GUI offers all of the options that are available using the command line. NOTES: 1. Note: If files are extracted to a drive (example: c:\package), the DrvInst\IA32\BDrvInst.msi and DrvInst\x64\BDrvInst.msi files can be executed for 32 bit and 64 bit, respectively, under the Windows operating system. This file will install the windows device driver. The destination drive unused space is required to be at least the package size for proper results. 2. When installing a driver for an adapter, the adapter should be installed in the machine under test for proper results. If no adapter is installed, the "New Version" number and "Installed Version" number displayed results may differ. To verify proper version numbers, see hardware device manager after rebooting. 4.0 WEB Sites and Support Phone Number ________________________________________ IBM Support Web Site: http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support IBM Marketing eServer xSeries Web Site: http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/x/ If you have any questions about this update, or problems applying the update go to the following Help Center World Telephone Numbers URL: http://www.ibm.com/planetwide. 5.0 Trademarks and Notices ____________________________ The following terms are trademarks of the IBM Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: IBM eserver xSeries eServer System x BladeCenter Microsoft and Windows are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries.
