All of these are common components that can be found on the OS installation media, and are installed by default on a 'Standard' Linux install. If you do not have a necessary component, the driver installer will inform you. 1.6 Update Contents: o ibm_dd_sraidmr_7.707.04.00_rhel6_x86-64.tgz - Driver update package o ibm_dd_sraidmr_7.707.04.00_rhel6_x86-64.chg - Change history 2.0 Installation and setup instructions ________________________________________ This package can be used with several of IBM's update management tools, including IBM UpdateXpress Manager, IBM UpdateXpress System Packs, and IBM Director. It can also be used as a standalone package. To use the package with one of IBM's update management tools, follow the instructions that came with your specific management tool. 2.1 Installing the driver via install.sh --------------------------------- Performing the update: ./install.sh If you already have a device driver from another update package installed, rpm performs version checking and stop if it detects that the currently installed version of the device driver is newer than the update package. To downgrade to this driver: ./install.sh --oldpackage To reinstall the same driver version: ./install.sh --replacepkgs Verifying installed driver version: modinfo megaraid_sas | grep version Verify loaded driver version: dmesg | tail dmesg | grep megaraid_sas 2.2 Driver removal --------------------------------- After successfully installing a device driver, there will be a corresponding entry in the RPM database. Querying the RPM database for "[xxxx-yyyyyy]" can be accomplished with: rpm -qa | grep [xxxx-yyyyyy] This should output something similar to: "[xxxx-yyyyyy-smp-z.z.z_z.z.z]" To remove the device driver: rpm -e [xxxx-yyyyyy-smp-z.z.z_z.z.z] To revert to the in-distro driver: modprobe -r [yyyyyy] rpm -e [xxxx-yyyyyy-smp-z.z.z_z.z.z] modprobe [yyyyyy] 2.3 Targeting other kernels --------------------------------- After untarring the .bin file, the ./SRPM/ directory contains Source RPM 2.4 Obtaining drivers update disks (DUDs) for use during OS installs --------------------------------- After untarring the .tgz file, the ./disk/ directory contains driver update disks to use during OS install when needed. 2.5 Troubleshooting tip(s) ------------------------ Extracting the device driver tgz file may result in changes to the permissions, owner, and group of the target directory without any notice of confirmation. Check and correct any changes after the tgz has been extracted. 3.0 Configuration information ______________________________ For detailed setup instructions for your controller, refer to the documentation on the "ServeRAID M Support" CD. 4.0 Unattended Mode ____________________ To run this package in unattended mode, use the following command, executed in the directory containing the ibm_dd_sraidmr_7.702.07.00_rhel6_x86-64.tgz package: NOTE: This command should all be entered on a single line, but is broken up here for readability. tar xzf ibm_dd_sraidmr_7.707.04.00_rhel6_x86-64.tgz ; export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin ; ./install.sh 5.0 Web Sites and Support Phone Number ______________________________________ o You can find support and downloads for IBM products from the IBM Support Web site: http://www.ibm.com/support/ You can find support and downloads specific to disk controllers by searching for the "Disk Controller and RAID Software Matrix" from the main support page. o For the latest compatibility information, see the IBM ServerProven Web site: http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/ o With the original purchase of an IBM hardware product, you have access to extensive support coverage.
